$2000 in 3 hours – how I REALLY did it

This happened the other night and it blew my mind!!!!

Between 9:00 – 11:59pm I made $2000 using Shopify

Not only did the amount blow my mind, but the fact that it was my exact goal for the week and I accomplished it in one night was truly a testament to what can happen when you’re intentional.

In the last 14 years, I have
-started a nail tech business (YES I’m a licensed nail tech lol)
-sold Pure Romance sex toys
-became a party planner
-started a certified travel agent
-tried to start a tax business
-started a bracelet boutique
-sold waist trainers, jewelry, and tea SMH

you name it.. if it’s legal, I sold it.

But none of it was really profitable because I was all over the place…

I had a million different things going on and none of them were things I was really passionate about..

I was too busy trying to force what wasn’t for me to focus on what was.

If you never pick up another lesson from me, please learn this: if you keep your attention on your intention it will always be a worthwhile investment.

It’s worth your time to pause for long enough to get clear about your purpose so that you can really get paid.

Or else you’re going to end up wasting your money doing all the wrong things for all the wrong reasons.

It took me 14 years to figure out that my purpose was to help other women discover AND GET PAID from their purpose.. but now that I’ve focused my energy on that it’s finally paying off in a major way.

If you missed my free live webinar where I shared how I made $56K with Shopify, you can access the replay here.

How would you like to make some extra side money with Shopify!?

3 Life Changing Lessons Every Woman Must Learn

Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the “Support Your Girlfriends” Weekend in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

This 4-day getaway served as a much needed weekend of relaxation among women who wanted to create a supportive community. It was hosted by Tene Nicole Public Relations at the exquisite Moon Palace Resort where we were wined and dined with unlimited luxuries from complimentary bottles of champagne each day to 24 hour room service.

Although we came together to connect professionally, we naturally established personal relationships as well. It was amazing to see how women from so many backgrounds, ages and professions had so much in common.

There were so many amazing memories made at the Moon Palace and tons of lessons learned. Being an Educator at heart, I’m always looking for lessons that I can apply and share. These are my top 3 takeaways that my young 30 somethings can relate to:

#1 Me time is a necessity, not a luxury

It’s super easy to get so caught up in your to do list that you forget to take care of yourself. If we’re not running around like crazy with a jam packed calendar, we actually start to wonder if we’re doing enough. This weekend away really showed me the importance of pausing. Pausing to reflect on your circumstances and hit the reset button so you can remain focused on your priorities. With so many of us wearing so many hats and being so much to so many people, this time away was much deserved.

My challenge to you: Take time for yourself at least once a week for a “solo date.” You don’t have to spend a dime to do something to celebrate yourself. The more you invest in you, the better you’ll be for everyone else.

#2 You can learn something from everyone

If you pay close enough attention, everyone you encounter will teach you something. Whether they help you discover something new that interests you, introduces you to a new perspective, shares a contact or even if they just uncover something that annoys you– if you pay attention you can learn something. Sometimes we get so caught up in creating perfect lives online that we forget to engage in our lives offline.

My challenge to you: Be present. Put your phone down. Pay attention. Start really engaging in meaningful conversations because they can open doors and create opportunities that you wouldn’t even believe were possible.

You can only take advantage of them if you’re paying attention.

#3 Whoever said no new friends must not have any real friends

I love me some Drizzy Drake but he was wrong about the #NoNewFriends thing. Some of my closest connections and most profitable partnerships have come from “new friends.” People I’ve met along my entrepreneurial journey, ones who were like-minded and open to opportunities. A lot of times, our homegirls from high school don’t have the same mindset as us. No shade to them, but it’s natural and normal to outgrow certain people. Sometimes it doesn’t even come down to outgrowing anyone, you can create new relationships without getting rid of the old ones. My point is that there is power in people.

Plus, if you can do it all by yourself your dreams aren’t big enough.

My challenge to you: Be intentional about connecting with new people. You never know when or how you’ll meet your next business partner, investor or customer.

If you haven’t had a chance to getaway with your girls in a while, definitely consider a relaxing stay at the luxurious Moon Palace Resort. It’s literally the nicest resort I’ve ever been to, unlimited everything!!!!

Balling on a smaller budget? Come hang with me in Atlanta for WERKPraySlay where you’re sure to meet your next business bestie, accountability partner, coach or customer! Get more information here.

girls trip

Girls Trip: My biggest lesson learned

Like most women around the country, I could not wait to see Girls Trip. The previews were hilarious, it’s a Will Packer film and one of my favorite women in the world, Jada Pinkett-Smith was starring in it.. literally no way I was going to miss this all of this #blackgirlmagic

Now if you’ve already seen it, you’d probably agree it’s one of the best movies of the year. And, boy can we relate to its storyline in so many ways!

But the one lesson we can (and should) learn from the Girls Trip movie is:

the wrong relationship will ruin your life … if you let it

The movie centers around Ryan, the Author, and Businesswoman who seems to have it all. It doesn’t take long for us to realize that having it all and appearing to have it all are two totally different things and our girl Ryan was a fraud. She was suffering through a miserable marriage trying to fake the funk when she planned the reunion trip with her girlfriends. As it turns out, it was just what the doctor ordered.

Ryan almost ruined her relationships with her real friends because she couldn’t see past her man’s sh*t. She was so caught up in trying to keep up that she was literally losing herself.

So many of us have found ourselves in similar situations: stuck in a relationship, pretending that we have it all together only for it to eventually fall apart. Being caught up with the wrong man can have damaging effects on both your mental and physical health.

It’s 2017 and ain’t nobody got time to be unappreciated and half-loved.

If you ever find yourself in a similar situation, wake the f*ck up, remember that you’re royalty, and take these 4 steps to turn your situation around:

#1 Get real with yourself

Only you know what goes on behind closed doors and if you’re questioning your relationship it’s probably for good reason. When I was engaged to a crazy person, I constantly questioned myself… then he’d make me feel better and I’d make a bunch of excuses. But, I could only talk myself into staying for so long. The sooner you stand up for yourself (and TO yourself) the sooner you can start living your best life.

Be real– Is your love story unfolding like a dream come true or has it turned into a nightmare?

If your bestie was involved in the exact same situation as you are with your man, what would your advice be to her?

If you can take a step back and observe your relationship objectively, would you say that 80% of the time it makes you happy or miserable?

#2 Take responsibility

Blaming him might make you feel better for a moment, but it won’t get you very far. Even if you feel like you did all that you could, the question becomes: why did you allow yourself to stay in a situation for so long that you knew wasn’t serving you?

Whether you want to realize or admit it, your man will only treat you the way you allow him to.

Acceptance is allowance… and you can’t really blame him for doing what you allowed him to do. If you’re allowing him to use and abuse you, you’re telling him it’s acceptable. If you’re allowing him to ignore your needs, you’re showing him that you value him more than you value yourself.Take responsibility for your part by asking yourself what it was about you that attracted him into your life, think about the red flags that you ignored and the lesson you’ve learned.

Take responsibility for your part by asking yourself what it was about you that attracted him into your life, think about the red flags that you ignored and the lesson you’ve learned. I can 100% admit that I attracted a broken man because I was a broken woman.

#3 Go to your girls

At the end of the day, we all need love. So many of us make the mistake of trading our peace for a piece of a man. I really believe the main reason we end up in these situations is because we’re afraid of being alone. Instead of being so desperate for attention that you’re willing to deal with a dog– I’m challenging you to love yourself more and lean on your girls when you’re feeling weak.

Our real friends who have seen us at our worst will not let us go down without a fight. Sometimes all it takes is one conversation and a fresh perspective to totally change your life. If I hadn’t broken down to my best friend, who knows when I would’ve ended that engagement. That one conversation literally saved my life.

#4 Keep it moving

The best revenge is living better.

Times like this call for quality time with your girls. So whether you go out and see the Girls Trip movie to get a good laugh or take a girls trip to Atlanta to get your life together, do what you need to do for you.

Everybody loves Clair Huxtable

It’s #TBT so let’s take it waaaaay back!

Like back to the 80’s and 90’s when TV taught lessons and black families reigned like royalty… you know, the Cosby Show days!

Back in the day, we all wished we could be Cosby kids so we’d always have friends to hang with and cool parents like Clair and Cliff!

When it comes to moms, Clair set the bar super high! She was the ultimate role model for women everywhere….sassy, classy and oh so jazzy.

And boy could she read you with a smile.

So every year when it comes time to choose a WERKPraySlay Clair Huxtable Award Recipient, it’s such a tough task!

Last year we had the pleasure of honoring not one, but two beautiful women: Egypt Sherrod and Nicole Garner-Scott.
